This document outlines the Australian National USAR Capability and the national arrangements for deployment within Australia. It also outlines the procedures for requesting and receiving international USAR resources to assist an Australian jurisdiction.

Western Australia does not currently have Emergency Management legislation. This document is the overarching Policy Document for Emergency Management in Western Australia. The document is subject to review and change with the approval of the Minister for Police and Emergency Services. The document is issued under the authority of the State Emergency Management Committee as approved by Cabinet on 18 July 1985.

WA Emergency Management Regulations 2006

Emergency Management Australia (EMA) is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of a number of Australian Government emergency management plans. This link provides details of the various plans in place.

The National Emergency Protocol (NEP) describes the communication arrangements between the Prime Minister, Premiers, Chief Ministers and the President of the ALGA during a national emergency.

The FLUBORDERPLAN is an operational plan which supports the Council of Australian Governments National Action Plan for Human Influenza Pandemic (July 2006) and is consistent with the health response to pandemic influenza threat outlined in the Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza 2008 (AHMPPI).

The Western Australian Emergency Management Act 2005 was proclaimed in December 2005.
