To provide a reticulated drinking water scheme, compliance with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines 2004 must be demonstrated before the service is provided to members of public. To demonstrate compliance with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, the Department of Health WA requires drinking water service providers to:

• establish a Drinking Water Quality Management Plan; and 
• establish system compliance and reporting processes with Department of Health.
