Public Health action

Trachoma is endemic in the Kimberley, Pilbara, Midwest and Goldfields regions of Western Australia. Population Health Units in these regions implement on-going trachoma prevention and control programs in accordance with Guidelines for the public health management of trachoma in Australia, CDNA, 2006.

Case definition

Trachoma is diagnosed and classified in accordance with the World Health Organization’s simplified trachoma grading classification system.
