Definition

1. Microscopic identification of Echinococcus species in cyst fluid or other clinical specimen;
OR

2. Positive serological test for infection with Echinococcus species in a patient with clinical, radiological or sonographic evidence of hydatid disease;
OR

3. Persistently reactive immunoelectrophoresis antibody test at least 2 years after surgical removal of a hydatid cyst, regardless of clinical symptoms or signs.
