Exclusion

Exclude from work, school, child care and other situations where disease transmission may occur for 24 hours after case becomes asymptomatic and has formed stools.
Enteric precaution for hospitalised or institutionalised patients.

Definition

• Demonstration of cysts or trophozoites of Entamoeba histolytica in faeces, tissue biopsy or extraintestinal tissue OR
  
• Positive serological tests for Entamoeba histolytica in a patient with clinical or radiological evidence of amoebiasis
