A number of West Australian State laws specify the mandatory reporting of health-related information to the Department of Health.
When a State law requires notifications to the Department of Health, these notifications do not breach the Privacy Act (Clth) 1988 (National Privacy Principle 2.1 (g)). Notified information is held securely and kept strictly confidential.
