Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2011

Health Planning

The Australian Government will host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth from the 28-30 October 2011. Heads of Government, Foreign Ministers and delegates from 52 countries are expected to attend.

A considerable amount of planning concerning the administrative and logistical arrangements has occurred at an Australian and Western Australian (WA) state level in collaboration with the London-based Commonwealth Secretariat. An Australian Government (AG) CHOGM 2011 Taskforce has been established within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to coordinate planning.

The WA Government will be providing a range of key services, including some aspects of event security, health and emergency services, and traffic management.

The State’s health preparations for CHOGM 2011 are being coordinated by the Disaster Management, Regulation and Planning (DMRP) Directorate within the Public Health Division of the WA Department of Health.

To assist in the development and implementation of the WA Health CHOGM 2011 project the WA CHOGM Health and Safety Subcommittee has been established. This committee has representatives from health services within WA, including area health services, St John Ambulance, PathWest and non health agencies, such as the Department of Premier and Cabinet and WA Police.
