Medical teams may deploy with a support team that can consist of logistic personnel. These people provide equipment and stores for team as well as operate the team communications systems. Logistic personnel are also responsible for the preparation and recovery of stores and equipment. In order to provide the required capabilities the Logistic Officer must be:

• Qualified to operate a forklift
• Qualified to pack and certify dangerous goods
• Able to operate the AUSMAT communication systems
• Detailed knowledge of, and access to freight and cartage systems
• Understanding of the requirements of Customs and the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service for the deployment and recovery form and overseas area of operations
