Response to emergency and disasters - stores and equipment

The Disaster Preparedness and Management Unit (DPMU) maintains an extensive amount of equipment and stores for a response to a health disaster and emergency. The equipment and stores held include:

Field equipment and accommodation for 40 personnel (includes tents, water purifying systems, showers, toilets, generators, mini forklift)
Medical consumables
Personal protective equipment
Spare CBR suits
Clothing for medical teams
Spare disaster bags
Communication equipment (mobile phones, hand held satphones and satellite terminals)
Surge equipment that permits a hospital to increase its critical care capability at short notice (physiological monitors, ventilators, volumetric pumps and syringe drivers). This equipment can also deploy with medical teams if required
