In Western Australia the responsibility for the safe use of radiation lies with the Radiological Council, an independent statutory authority appointed under the Radiation Safety Act 1975.

Radiation standards and Codes of Practice
The Act and regulations require compliance with several standards and codes of practice. These are currently available from the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency website:
National Radiation Standards are available for download as part of the Radiation Protection Series (RPS).
Codes of Practice are available for download as part of the Radiation Health Series (RHS).
