Fact sheets
The feral pigeon is a descendant of the domestic homing pigeon introduced into Australia from Europe in the 1600s. Several traits have allowed feral flocks to increase in numbers and dominate the urban landscape.
As a result there is an increase in feral pigeon numbers in certain areas of Western Australia. Action by home occupiers and business operators is needed to help rectify the feral pigeon problem before it escalates.
Read the feral pigeon control for further information on how to control feral pigeons around your property.

What is the best way to control feral pigeon numbers?
The most effective way to control feral pigeon numbers is to implement ‘pigeon proofing’ on your property. This can be achieved by firstly destroying the nesting sites and secondly preventing pigeons from nesting or roosting in or around the property. Products such as pigeon spikes or even chicken wire can be used to prevent the birds from landing or entering the property.
