The Food Unit utilises the explanatory guide to the Food Safety Standards, which provides good guidance to food businesses.

The Australian Standard 4674: Fit out and Construction of Food Premises provides a guide to what is considered 'best-practice' in relation to fit-out and construction. A number of Local Governments have utilised this Standard to provide guidance to food businesses (particularly at the initial design stage).
