Pandemic Influenza
One of the biggest killers of modern human history is Pandemic Influenza which comes about when a new strain of influenza is borne. The 1918 Flu Pandemic for instance killed more people than World War I, resulting in 20 to 40 million deaths worldwide. The world is 'overdue' for the next outbreak according to most experts.
