Obesity and healthy weight
While a small proportion of the population experiences inadequate growth or is underweight, the major concern for the community and the health system is the increasing levels of overweight and obesity. High body mass increases the risk of a number of serious health conditions, particularly type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, asthma and osteoarthritis, and psychosocial problems in childhood.
