WESTPLAN - Health provides the framework for how WA Health, and it's allied services, contribute to the health aspects of prevention of, preparedness for, response to and recovery from any major incident or disaster. A targeted and comprehensive education and training program (as part of preparedness), is one strategy that can have a positive impact on Health’s disaster management. The responsibility for providing disaster education and training within WA Health is a shared responsibility between individual health services and the DPMU.
The DPMU is responsible for:
- facilitating a range of courses for all-of-health that cannot be suitably implemented at an individual health service; and
- coordination of State exercises that incorporate elements of the Health response to disasters
