About us
The Chronic Disease Prevention Directorate (CDPD) is part of WA Health’s Public Health Division. The CDPD was established in 2010 to:
Strengthen state policy and plans for the prevention of chronic disease and injury.
Promote healthy living by delivering population-based health promotion programs through and in partnership with non-government organisations and area health services.
Develop and grow partnerships across government, non-government agencies, industry and the community for prevention of chronic disease and injury.
Implement WA initiatives under the National Partnership Agreement on Preventive Health
Promote research on the prevention of chronic disease and injury.
Ensure that WA Health is responsive to the needs of people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds to help achieve better health outcomes.
Represent WA Health on relevant national and state working groups.
Develop the Western Australian Health Promotion Strategic Framework 2012-2016 This document sets out WA Health’s strategic directions and priorities for reducing the risk of chronic disease and injury over the next five years. It is expected to be released in 2012.
